Software optimization (also called software tuning or chip tuning) refers to a modification of the software stored in your vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). For this, the original engine control data is read out, and then individual maps are defined and optimized. This individualized map editing guarantees the best possible result – without damaging the engine through software tuning.

With pure chip tuning, no structural modifications are made to the engine or your car. After software optimization, all engine protection functions remain intact. The newly defined maps not only offer the advantage of a noticeably increased performance, but also a reduction in fuel consumption without affecting the longevity of your engine.

Depending on the specific method, professional software tuning takes 1-3 hours.

 

There are two different ways to perform professional software tuning.

The first method is via the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) interface. The alternative is traditional software tuning.

With chip tuning via the OBD interface, the original program can be read directly through this interface and, after modification, re-entered into the engine control unit (ECU).

With traditional software tuning, a connection to the ECU is not possible via the OBD interface. Therefore, the software must be read and programmed directly through the ECU.

Which software tuning option is available for your vehicle depends on the specific model and year of manufacture. Regardless of how your vehicle has been optimized, with both methods it is always possible to restore the original factory settings in the engine control unit.

How long does software tuning take?

 

The exact duration depends on the specific software option.

Software tuning via the OBD interface typically takes about 1-2 hours.

For traditional software tuning, we need your vehicle for approximately 2-4 hours.
